Here it is Sunday night and we heard of this pretty bitchen line up of bands and we said sure we will go to that. The show was at a place called The Wheel house in Hemet, California which is about 70 miles east of our headquarters. The place takes a roller skating rink, puts a stage in, lights and a premium sound system and holds shows there. |
| Back in the 80's you have the same type gig venues that took roller rinks that were hurting for business and turned them into a place to have gigs. The 3 headliners all played at roller rinks back in the day like, The Galaxy in Fullerton, T-Bird Rollerdome in Pico Rivera and Skateway in Placentia to name a few. The place is an all ages venue (good going localpunks.net), a generous back stage area for the bands and the place was packed out with kids. |

We got there with about 5 minutes to spare before they went on. This band originally from Lake Elsinore we found really hard to hate. They throw some of the same antics that TSOL was known for back in the old days into their show. The Sponge Bob piñata was too much. They threw it in the crowd toward the end of their set as the audience fed on it, ripping it to shreds. Good performance from this up and coming band. |
| DI |
| DI has had a busy weekend, first playing at a sold out show at The Galaxy in Santa Ana and now we find them out at The Wheel house. The kids were really hyped up as they got things started with "Guns". The sound system in this place was so good that Steve who handles drumming duties gave props to the sound man. The last song "Richard Hung Himself" had all the kids singing along to this 20 year old song. |
| FEAR |
|
|
FEAR first made a name for themselves back in 1980 when they appeared in the classic Punk documentary, "The Decline". Lee Ving is still just as edgy today as when they started. They played all their favorites such as "I Love Livin' in the City" and "Let's Have a War". Anytime FEAR plays, you will be doing yourself a favor in going to see this all time classic 80's Punk band that is still just as raw today. |

Now it was time for The Dickies to come on and close out the night. The entire band was there ready to go except for the drummer. Jeff who puts on the shows came on stage to announce that The Dickies would not be performing since it was learned that the drummer was in some kind of traffic accident. To salvage the night, Narcoleptic Youth came back on to play another set - very cool on their part.. |
