We had planned on already being up in Hollywood on Saturday night to hang out with some friends so we cruised this art show that was happening. The art show featured the art of none other than pro skater and Punk rocker at large, Steve Olson. The event was at Les Deux Cafe right off Hollywood Boulevard. |
| Hearing about this showing we had no idea what to expect, after all this was Steve Olson's art. |

In talking to Steve about the art that he creates he described it as staple and tear. Drawing his influence from the Punk world he lives in, it is styled after Punk flyers that were made in the 80's where you would cut out stuff and paste it on a sheet of paper to promote your band's gig. The difference here is that he takes various types of materials and staples it all together to create this unique art. The show seemed to attract people of various tastes in art from the patent leather shoe crowd to those that came to party and enjoy some good Punk rock art. |
|
We would of loved to take home a few of the pieces, yet we left our check book at home. This was a great show with a good bar and a good collection of Punk music playing in the background. |
| At the risk of sounding like a snooty art critic, we found the art to be very original and would look cool in any Punker's house. Steve can shredd pools, skate downhill and now produces very clever art.....what next? |
