The Briggs record release party at The Key Club

From doing some prep work for the Edward Colver gallery show to rolling out to The Briggs record release party, it was a full day.

Our day started out with a visit to the Edward Colver photo exhibit at the Caracola Art Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles, and ended in Hollywood for the record release show for the Briggs. We got to the show kinda late, so unfortunately we missed the first band “The Scabs”….sorry guys, maybe we’ll catch you next time. We did, however, make it in time to catch The 40 OZ; A good, energetic group of dudes, with a lot of fast songs. Next up were Bad Reaction, Dead to Me, and Angel City Outcasts. This was a really cool lineup of bands that all complemented each other very well. A new addition to Bad Reaction, Nick, from Citizens on Patrol on drums did great last night, winning the favor of the crowd. Fitting 6 bands onto a show that’s only 4 hours long was bound to be a challenge, but the Key Club somehow managed to pull it off. There was obviously some doubt weather this could be done on not just by reading a sheet with the posted set times which read “5 minute set changes…..HAHAHAHHA”. Now it was time for the Biggs to take the stage. We haven’t seen these guys in a while. Were we a little apprehensive about what the new songs were going to sound like, but after getting a hold of the new CD “Back to higher ground” from our friend Joe Sib, we feel comfortable in saying that these guys still rock! The Briggs opened with a favorite…”Song for us”  having a large amount of confetti rain down upon them. They then went into “Dead men don’t tell tales” and then “Back to higher ground”. What was cool is that they didn’t shove all the new songs down the crowd’s throat like so many bands so, but rather sprinkled them in with their favored songs. The Briggs ended the night with 2, yes you heard right, 2 encores that included a cover of Adicts song "Walk On" and Cock Sparrer tune "Take 'Em All"...it was rad. After that it left the crowd still wanting more on a Wednesday night.

Pick up a copy of the Briggs new album “Back to Higher Ground” on
Side One Dummy Records, and look for shows in an area near you!
