For years now whenever we cruise up to Hollywood to see a show or just hangout we routinely go to Headline Records. Located on Melrose Avenue not far from Fairfax High School is one of the best Punk record shops in LA. Just as you walk through the front door you can already see that the place is loaded with tons of stuff. |
| Back in the 80's it seemed that there were a bunch of Punk record shops that were like Head Line Records, yet today most of them are gone. Head Line forges ahead with the largest selection of all Punk CDs with no BS titles to wade through. In addition to the CD's, is all the t-shirts they carry that fill up the space on the walls and ceiling. Pretty much every band from A to Z can be found on a shirt, even in little kid sizes. |
| As one of the more skate Punk friendly record shops, they carry the entire line of Punk Rock Skateboards there and usually are the first to have the new deck releases. In addition to the decks, they carry the whole PRS clothing line of jackets and t-shirts too. As you walk around the store you find hundreds of DVDs and videos of some of the classic old school Punk videos and other hard to find ones. |

In
order for you to see all the large back patches and small ones as well as
all the stickers they carry have them pictured in notebooks for you to see
what they have - it's insane all the stuff. Books, magazines and studded
belts and bracelets round out the stuff you will find here. Most times
where we go in there we find either John or Mike working at the store.
Both of these guys know their hardcore and are a great resource to help
you find music by bands that are long out of print, what records certain
songs are on as well as finding new stuff to listen to. One afternoon when
we were there, John even turned us onto a bitchen Punk band from Spain
that we would have never known about unless he told us about them.
