MANX Wheels  -Slalom Wheels

Review by: Andrew Mercado

In the past few months the people over at Pocket Pistols Skateboards have ventured off from the manufacturing of slalom skateboards to the research of slalom wheels. The new Manx slalom wheel is a 69mm tall and 52mm wide. They come in 4 different durometers: 78a, 80a, 84a, & 88a and bright orange in color. I tried out a combination of 78a on the back truck and 80a on the front. When I rode this combination I not only got the speed I needed out of the wheel, but the turning and maximum traction needed for a good quality slalom wheel. I recommend the Manx wheel to the seasoned vet as well as the weekend warrior just getting into slalom skateboarding. On a scale of 1 to 10 these wheels get an 8 or 9. You can get more info, check out some very high tech state of the art slalom boards, and purchase Manx Wheels at www.pocketpistolskates.com
Manx Wheels can also be purchased at
www.madridskateboards.com. Be on the look out for new sizes and shapes coming soon from Manx Wheels.

Editors Note: Being a total slalom neophyte I tried a set of these and felt very comfortable to lean it way out as I worked plenty of cones. I set up my deck exactly as Andrew recommended with the same durometer combination he runs. This wheel gets strong recommendation for you people that are new to this whole slalom stuff that want wheels that will give you a strong level of confidence so you don't eat it. Just if you are wondering, we bought these wheels on our own and they were not given to us first to do a review on them. Andrew kept hearing about how good these wheels were gonna be well before they hit the market. As soon as they were available to the public, he bought a set.
