| Ready for the crush at LAX airport, we got there an hour and a half early – the lines were not too bad. We went through security and had to have our bags screened at a special machine before we were allowed to proceed into the airport. Once they determined that our video and digital cameras were ok they let us through. The magazine racks at the news stands in the airport were not friendly to skaters – No Transworld or Thrasher could be found. Before the we got on the plane I was selected for a “random” pre-boarding security check – I knew I should not have wore the Psycho Stick man shirt. |

We landed in San Francisco an hour later and took a cab to The Pound SF where DI and The Misfits were playing. This huge club is located out on pier 96 in the middle of a seaside industrial area. Truck trailers and impounded cars surround this Punk Rock night spot. |

Huhh... |
Casey was up to his usual hi-jinx and Lars of Rancid was there talking with friends. The club was already pre sold out for tonight’s line up that featured, The Misfits, DI, Deface and Mastema. |
| Special DI props go out to our merch gal Kathy and Todd Roll our roadie whose help make sure that fans got the goods they wanted and that the show's technical issues were handled. |
| Out back was an open air area to hang outside in the cool night air and view the merch areas of all the bands that were on tonight’s bill. Heading back inside just before DI was going on, we weeded our way through the thick crowd that packed this place to get to the stage. Casey took the stage and asked how everyone was doing and thanked the crowd for coming out as he gave props to the two bands that just performed. |
| DI opened up with the song that was performed in 80’s Punk movie “Suburbia” – Richard Hung Himself. The crowd got going as Casey sprung around the limited space he had on the stage. The audience was very lively, shouting out the songs they wanted to hear. Throughout the show Chickenhead continued to shower the fans with VISION Street Wear products and then he teased the crowd as he prepared to throw out a VISION Psycho Stick old school skate deck. The deck surfed the crowed for a bit until someone jumped on top of it to claim their prize. |
| They played all the songs the crowd wanted to hear with a set that just keep beating on them. Closing out the set with “Johnny’s Got a Problem” the pit was a full on rumble as they slammed to the last song. Before leaving the stage Casey told the crowd to be cool, watch out for the cops and that Punk Rock will never die. |

Next up was The Misfits. This band has been around since the early 80’s and is still a favorite among many. Glen Danzig of the original Misfits may be gone yet the show still the Misfits with a few changes. Now with Dez of Black Flag on guitar and Marky Mark of The Ramones with original Misfits member Jerry Only on bass. |

This show was packed with talent and the crowd knew it. The
set list was part classic Misfits tunes and an unexpected host of Ramones
tunes. It was actually pretty cool to hear The Misfits doing songs like
“Sheena is a Punk Rocker” and “Blitzkreig Bop”. The air was
continuing to get more humid as the show went on as the crowd took full
advantage of the collection of true Punk Rock tunes to skank to. The time
had come for tonight’s fun to come to an end. After the show, the band
hung around the front of the stage a talked to all the kids and signed the
various Misfits record covers they brought. Our next stop this weekend would be Seattle, the site of the
3rd annual EMP “Hey Punk” show. |
